NITE TO UNITE - August 3rd
Save the date for the 2021 Night to Unite (NTU) celebration on Tuesday, August 3. Those who register before July 20 will receive an event gift box and help to ensure a visit from either Elk River Police, Fire or other city staff/elected officials.
Night to Unite is a nation-wide, annual event that offers residents a unique opportunity to get to know their neighbors, chat with local law enforcement officials, and ultimately build a safer community. For more than 20 years, Elk River neighborhoods have organized Night to Unite block-parties, and in 2019, 56 gatherings were held city-wide. From a backyard barbecue to a pool party, each neighborhood can decide how they want to celebrate the event. Some neighborhoods have potlucks, pizza parties or ice cream socials, while others choose to simply sit on the lawn and visit with one another. Visit ElkRiverMN.gov/NightToUnite for more information.
Pastor Robin just donated $400 to Open Doors For Youth because you have purchased eggs from our little flock of laying hens. You get great eggs, I get to enjoy my flock and a few eggs, and more doors are opened for youth at risk. Thank you so much everyone for continuing to support this tiny mission project. For anyone who doesn’t already know, every week Robin brings eggs to put in the kitchen fridge at church. It is self-serve with a manila envelope for your egg donations. All profits are donated to ODFY.
PASTOR ROBIN ON VACATION
Robin will be taking vacation August 8-20. She will not be available during this time. If you would like a visit before this time or are planning something that requires her pastoral presence, please contact her as soon as you can, so she can make sure to be with you for what you need.
A Note From Liturgical Arts:
Liturgical Arts would appreciate anyone who has garden flowers to bring a small bouquet for the altar on Sundays. Just bring on Sunday morning and place on the altar. If we get more than one, place them all on the altar. Thank you.
Are you curious what the organization, SARI, is and does?
SARI - Sanctuary & Resistance to Injustice is a faith-based organization fighting for an end to immigration raids and deportations. They meet remotely on the 2nd Monday of each month and conduct a vigil every Wednesday at the Sherburne County Courthouse from 3:30-4:30 pm.
"Our need for healing is not simply for physical healing. Jesus knew this and certainly had some understanding of the stigma and trauma of chronic illness. It is also true that ongoing systemic injustices wrought on specific peoples and populations cause physical as well as psychological illness. Our need for healing is central to a life of faith, a life of acting on our belief in a God of unconditional love, a life of living into our belief that all people and all creation have intrinsic value and are beloved by God. "
