July 11th

          Prayers for Morocco 

Loving and oh so caring God, we are grateful for your divine purpose in our lives.  Although we know you have the utmost benevolent plan for us all, we also realize that we as human beings, we can fall short of what you expect of us.  Where there is hate and resentment, we ask for your love and acceptance.
Where jealousy may rise among us or against us, may your steadfast love be the string that unites us.  We are praying for our siblings in Morocco who are like John the Baptist, fighters for truth and justice in a world filled with hate and selfishness.  We pray for their safety not only against evil in people, but also safety against COVID19 that is still raging in the world and this country.
We are praying for those who are still working hard to help vulnerable siblings, especially those who are traveling in the hopes of finding a better tomorrow… elsewhere.
We are praying for the national Church and Morocco’s leaders who are facing challenges to support their full-time pastors – who doing a tremendous work of critical presence and support towards their local parishioners.
Even though the church’s needs are surpassing its means, we know that as you have provided before, you will again! And for this, we are forever thankful.

In Jesus’ name we pray.

 * Pastor Robin acknowledged the gift of having our choirs sing/play for us, especially during this summer when we usually don't see our choirs.  We also appreciate Carson's instrumental music as well. 

 

* Janelle Johnson expressed the joy of her granddaughter, Mary Eckberg, who was married on Friday. 

 

* Amanda Hooper  expressed the joy of Hunter and Finley’s birthdays in July!  Happy Birthday to both of them. 

* Kim Rosdahl thanked everyone for  prayers for their daughter, Bailey. She has an autoimmune disease, but is getting better.

* Nancy Andersen expressed the joy of having her daughter here for a month. Her daughter cooked, cleaned and sorted items for them. They appreciated her visit so much!  Nancy also announced it is Marv and her wedding anniversary—37 years!  Happy Anniversary!

* This morning, the beautiful flowers on the altar were provided by Mary Wilson.

* Bev Putnam brought prayers of joy for Ella Rivers who has a birthday coming up on July 21st. Ella will be 104.  Cards are welcome to help Ella and family celebrate.   

 

The Nation United Church of Christ General Synod 33 is being held virtually beginning on July 11th.  We pray for this success of this event and the many people of faith it will reach.

July 11th

Part of this effort is building our traditional lodges, or Waaginooginan. We are building these lodges, and offering them to our people.  

Our women leaders are being asked to protect the water, and join us in our new lodges. We know that it is time to listen to the Women, and we are here.    Our first lodge, our Waaginoogan has been brought to life. It has been blessed by our women. We know there will be many lodges up here in the North Country, Giiwedinong. This is the time to come home.  Bi-azhegiiweyeg.

This territory is the headwaters of the Red River and the Mississippi River; the territory of the Great Lakes. We are asking you to come to us as Water Protectors, as friends.  We are asking you to come with us to envision the next economy, and to make that vision for our future: here, omaa akiing.

* Nancy Hassett asked for prayers for the water protectors, the Ojibwe of northern Minnesota, who are trying to protect their sovereign sacred land from the Enbridge pipeline.  These people are in need of our support. 

* Amanda Hooper asked for prayers for Nolan, a friend of Tessla.  On the Fourth of July Nolan got smoke in his eye which burned 2 layers of the eye membrane. Prayers for healing. 

* Amanda also asked for prayers for the people she works with in the homeless community.  Soon, the eviction restriction will be lifted and many will become homeless.  Prayers for finding homes for them or the support they need to make the transition. 

* Kim Rosdahl asked for prayers for a friend’s son, Grayson, who received abnormal lab results.  Prayers for better health.

* Teresa Lentz asked for prayers to find an attorney knowledgeable in the area of unemployment disputes.  If you know of anyone that can help her, please contact her.  She needs this by Wednesday of this week.  For any questions or further information please call her at 763-645-4908.
